I'm a man with a one track mind. So much to thrift in one lifetime

Before we Get into the Finds from this weeks Thrifting Let see some Highlights from Getting the MEGA-CD up to scratch, I have setting it up the best I can with the wires I have and burned of some of the Rarest games and ones for my own personal curiosity.

So I have the Yellow pin of the mega drive cable in the TV, and White and Red Audio coming from the Mega CD, Trying out Eternal Champions CFTDS, It has a whole host of extras that where not in the mega drive version as well as some awesome FMV intro.

Not even limited to Just the PAL games, There is a ongoing effect to convert SEGA CD games to work on PAL machine, You can do this yourself but UKCD project saves you the trouble converting Monkey island ready to burn from the off.

Of course the CD quality is a total plus but some games are so ingrained in pop culture its hard to tear you mind away from the cart version, The intro to chuck rock sounds better then the snes version but the charm of the MD version is missing.
Getting to try some games I have never heard of, Blackhole assault looked like another shooter turns out its a half decent 1 on 1 robot beat up'em, Think Rise of the robots but good.

Final Fight CD is the Mega CD's finest hour Pretty much acrade prefect with awesome voice and FMV, This is better then all the SNES versions and the GBA port years later Final Fight is one of them games that can be compared on so many systems but using my MD acrade stick makes this feel pretty special.
A Great Chance to try out some of the mega rare titles for the system, keio flying squadron could set you back £130 on ebay so the 15p cost of one CD-R to play the game on the original hardware makes the mega-cd a most worthy of investments for any retro gaming doing it on the cheap.

One more thing I found out about the MEGA-CD it plays CD+G these are normal Music CD's with low Res Graphics programed on the disc, Most of them are cheesy karaoke CDs but there are a few albums from the late 80s early 90s that have CD+G funtion on them mite try and track down some on the thrift be cool to see it working.

Pick up this old model Dazzle capture device for £3 its from 2000 so only mpeg4 quailty but I haven't any thing to connect old consoles to a PC and I don't think I will need 720p for Mega CD games, There is possibilities with this maybe some gameplay videos some youtube fodder?

Donkey kong Country for Gameboy colour for £1 this is epic had it a few times before and for £1 its going to get bought, Gameboy games are back in at the moment with the game boy just having its 25th birthday, Skills!

Moto Racer 2, I loved this game back in the ps1 era I ended up getting the pc game for the better graphics but the ps1 version still has its place in my gaming history and now I can slam it in the ps3 and kick back with a wireless controller its time for a revisit. £1

The first micro machines on mega drive £3 for this one over paid a bit need this to take pride of place next to the second game in the series on y shelf so made sense to pick this up this one only has two player and no multi tap on the cart still a classic.

£3 each for these master system games, shinobi, Psycho fox, Dracula, Shinobi is quite common and worth about £5, Dracula is closer to £10 and psycho fox is £15-20 on ebay so got a bargain on all of them.

Yeah that's ninja gaiden boxed and complete!!! whhaaat? £3 for this game it sells between £30-£50 depending on the condition this ones in pretty tiny shape and is sparing me on to pay the ebay price for a power base converter so the mega drive+mega cd looks even more awesome and can play this without having to set the master system back up what a find.
I thought that was it for the day ready to go home and proclaim myself the Thrift master for all to see on facebokk then I found this.

Atari 7800 with 2 paddle things from some old grandstand pong machine a nice clicky quickshot joystick and two official Atari 7800 joypads that are a total score in them selfs, £25 all in, Ebay you will pay a lot more for what was there, I took a gamble hoping it works.

Go on! It has a 8bit version of Asteroids built in and the 7800 is backwards compatible with mostly all the 2600 games witch is good because I don't have any 7800 games, I do however have the crappy port of PAC-MAN for 2600 and that's me playing it the only time anyone has with a smile on there face, Get it!

So glad this worked out, Some times you have to buy stuff blind to get a good deal If you pass up on something at a good price you will never know, If a Consoles £3 go ahead but £25 on a untested console is high stakes glad this one paid off now I can Relax, Now to ebay to look at the 7800 and 2600 games mite be a few worth pick up cheap.
