How lucky for them.. back home.

Since the day of its release in the U.K I have being completely convinced that Mortal Kombat Trilogy is the Greatest fighting game of all time.

playing the 2011 reboot the other day just reinforced my view that what made mortal kombat feel like mortal kombat is the control dynamics of Uppercutting and sweeping. The 2011 MK has that in place but falls short of the full fighting mechanic.

The little nuances that are found with a prolonged time playing the multi-player always keep you coming back for more, The way it is set up you could end up playing nearly a hole match in a perfectly timed choreographed display of attacking and countering until that one uppercut or roundhouse kick landed and breaks out in to a barrage of combos and special moves.
The ways to approach this game is countless the best way to play is using the Two on Two mode. But it doesn't stop there midway provided even more options for customizing your MK experience.

On the options screen holding UP+L1+L2+R1+R2 tell the screen shakes then the ? will bring you to a new menu of options.

The choice is yours on what you want to turn on or off.
combining a few of them will change the way the game plays I find the configuration shown in the picture is the best way.

Then there is one thing that a lot of games are missing, That is just the total amount of fun you can have just dicking about on this game, The picture above is what I like to call a Blanka off.

When they say Trilogy they wasn't kidding cramming all four previous games into one? ok maybe they where kidding but I think we all forget about MK3 when UMK3 came along another nice touch pressing select on Jax,Raiden,Kano or kung lo changes them to there MK1 versions.

on the VS screen the killer codes also add to the games brilliant presentation unlocking different things depending on the correct code being entered. The chance of you entering one by mashing the buttons is very slim tho.

One more cheat, as if 37 characters wasn't enough if you pick a masked ninja and on the vs screen hold BK+HP+HK+BLK+RN You become Chameleon.

Few more secrets UP+START on noob or rain if player two will give you random select and UP+START on Sonya will give you stage select.

All the codes are relating to the PlayStation version of the game the best release of the game.
The only old school MK not to have an arcade release.
The Saturn and p.c versions are just ports of the PlayStation version, The N64 version was butchered to fit on the cart, and the game.com version t'sssh.

The fighting gameplay of this game is what makes me love it so much and is most defiantly the finest example of Midways tried and tested formula.
But a lots of games a featured the same mechanics and gamplay as MKT some more then others here is some Honourable mentions.

Batman forever - A lot of the MK moves in this game its a bit mad you have to press LK and down to jump down But Uppercut and sweeper are totally here and MK fans will have more fun they there had any right too.

Batman crosses over with MK again in MKvsDC and a move back in the right direction for the series with Uppercut and Sweep back in play.

Its all here in this bad boy, Mortal Kombat Mythologies Had a full MK control set up down too the combos in UMK3/MKT the same moves that unmask sub-zero has so you can rock the awesome 6 hit combo. HP,HP,LP,LK,HK,BK+HK

More mixed up in Wrestlemania and in your house But the combos are still there and the feel of MK is totally here.

The second 3D Mortal kombat game and the best of the 3D games in the franchise its all here and then some, think of it as Ultimate Mortal kombat 4 and one of the best fighting games for dreamcast.

War gods is on arcade/ps1/n64 is another fighting game using the same engine as MK4 again all in with moves and fatalities.

They may be more games that use the MK moves I Have not come across, Because of the turkeys in the series
Deadly alliance,Deception and Armageddon there is some awesome fan made 2D Mortal kombat games using Mugen.

Taken From Mortal Kombat Outworld made with Mugen. Check the guy who made its Youtube channel best of the bunch of fan made 2D MK made with mugen.

So after MK 2011 going 2D and bring back some old school moves ideally the next MK will be a Modern day trilogy I can only dream of a roster like this.

Awesome. MKT really is the best fighting game. Just want to underline your points really, with the timing being the most influential part IMO. Oftentimes matches between us look choreographed as we try to outwit each other, but best of all there are enough characters to keep you going during those multiplayer marathons. MKT is yet to be beaten!

Totally agree, as if they haven't made a better MK since 1997
